What Crypto.com is
Crypto.com spans several products. The U.S. App is a custodial mobile platform for buying, selling, transferring, and using eligible rewards or card features. Crypto.com Exchange is a separate order-book product. Crypto.com Onchain is a separate self-custody wallet.
Treating them as one price or one custody model creates avoidable mistakes. Start every decision by identifying the product, legal availability, key holder, quote method, and destination network.
U.S. App pricing
The U.S. App terms say a trade price includes a markup or markdown spread, separate from any displayed fee. A zero-fee label can therefore coexist with a cost embedded in the exchange rate.
Use the confirmation screen to calculate dollars paid per unit or dollars received after a sale. Compare the result with a liquid reference at the same time. Payment method, asset, size, and market conditions can change the quote.
Exchange fees
The separate Exchange July 2026 schedule starts at 0.250% maker and 0.500% taker for Level 1, below $10,000 of 30-day volume, without a qualifying CRO balance. Higher volume and qualifying CRO balances can reduce rates.
CRO discounts add token-price exposure. Calculate the dollar fee saved and compare it with the risk and opportunity cost of the required CRO balance. Do not use the Exchange table as the price of an App order.
Asset availability
The U.S. App advertises more than 400 cryptocurrencies in 49 states, excluding New York. Exact trading, transfer, rewards, and network access differs by asset and product.
A broad list is valuable only when the selected token has acceptable spread, liquidity, withdrawal support, and project quality. Verify the contract or native asset, network, minimum, memo, and current transfer status before purchasing.
Custody boundary
Crypto.com App is custodial. The company controls keys and can apply withdrawal, security, or compliance reviews. Crypto.com Onchain puts recovery and signing responsibility on the user. Support cannot reverse a valid blockchain transfer or restore every lost self-custody secret.
A transfer between them is not an internal visual move; it can be an irreversible onchain transaction with a fee and network choice. Test first and maintain an offline recovery plan.
Security and reserves
Crypto.com documents multi-factor authentication, anti-phishing codes, address controls, monitoring, cold storage, certifications, and 1:1 reserve practices. Users should activate every relevant control before funding.
The proof-of-reserves page includes public wallet information and a verification based on specified balances as of December 7, 2022. That is useful evidence at a scope and date, not a continuous full audit of every asset and liability in 2026.
Account Protection Programme
The April 8, 2026 policy lists U.S. availability only for Prime users. Coverage requires security controls, timely reporting, investigation, and other conditions, and Crypto.com determines whether an event qualifies.
Do not quote a maximum reimbursement as insurance for all App customers. Confirm the current account-level terms and treat unauthorized-transaction protection as conditional.
Cards, rewards, and CRO
Card, Level Up, reward, and fee benefits can depend on subscriptions, CRO holdings, lockups, eligible merchants, or geography. Value them after costs and at a conservative token price.
Rewards on crypto are not bank interest. Principal can fluctuate, lockups or unstaking may delay access, and tax treatment can add recordkeeping obligations.
Transfer and support planning
A Crypto.com App withdrawal can be delayed by security controls, offline key retrieval, compliance review, network maintenance, or an account change. The U.S. terms warn that retrieving key material from offline storage can take 48 hours or more. Do not hold emergency cash solely as crypto that must pass through an exchange before it can be spent.
For a transfer, verify the App's supported network, the destination's supported network, any memo, the minimum, and the displayed fee. Save the transaction hash. Onchain transactions cannot be cancelled by customer support after valid blockchain confirmation.
Product complexity also affects support. An App quote, Exchange order, Visa card transaction, Onchain approval, and derivatives position can belong to different systems. Start a case through the relevant product and include the order or transaction identifier without sharing passwords, authentication codes, or a recovery phrase.
Where Crypto.com appears on DollarScout
DollarScout's full review scores fees, usability, asset selection, security, and customer service. Comparisons keep App spread, Exchange maker/taker pricing, and Onchain custody separate.
Rankings use the advertised 400+ U.S. App assets but do not imply every asset is available on every product or network. Protection and reserve claims always include their conditions and dates.
Decision checklist
Before using Crypto.com:
- Identify App, Exchange, or Onchain.
- Save the exact quote and implied spread.
- Confirm state, pair, asset, and network eligibility.
- Calculate whether a CRO discount justifies holding CRO.
- Enable anti-phishing and withdrawal controls.
- Verify whether the account qualifies for any protection program.
- Keep only an intentional custodial balance.
Editorial conclusion
Crypto.com is compelling for a mobile user who wants a large asset list and several connected products. Its complexity is the price of that breadth. The best outcome comes from separating the App quote from the Exchange schedule, the custodial account from Onchain, and current account eligibility from general marketing claims.
